Palma International Boat Show extends its financial aid for exhibitors and visitors
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The floating show will be held from 24th April to 2nd May at the Moll Vell site in Palma

Palma International Boat Show, which will be held from 24th April to 2nd May at the Moll Vell exhibition site in the Port of Palma, will launch this new show with various activities that will significantly boost the forms of financial aid that began last year. One such example is the subsidy of a 35% discount on the participation fee for all exhibitors from the Balearic Islands. In addition, the Balearic Government's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy is drawing up arrangements whereby all craft that are sold at the Palma Boat Show to Balearic residents will receive a discount of 35% on the cost of registration. This measure was put into practice during the Barcelona Boat Show last year, and proved hugely successful. Palma Boat Show organisers have shown great enthusiasm for this proposal as it is an initiative that directly benefits both buyer and seller at one and the same time.

In spite of this being a difficult year for the Balearic Islands, the Palma Boat Show is profiled as being an important commercial and dynamic date in the nautical calendar in that it is an event for direct sales, favouring the last-minute buyer. In addition and also worth highlighting is the fact that the show offers a great opportunity for exhibitors to sell off stock, one of the major problems facing the sector.

Supporting children's sport and associations

Palma International Boat Show continues with its unconditional support of children's sport, as is demonstrated in the agreement reached a while ago with the Balearic Sailing Federation, resulting in all members now having free access to the fair site. Furthermore, the organisation of a series of promotional regattas is also planned.

Meanwhile, this year's show will enjoy the participation of various sailing associations such as ANAM (Association of Mediterranean Seagoing Yachtsmen and Women), which takes in the ocean-going circuit with regattas such as the Ruta de la Sal and the Ruta de la Tramuntana, amongst others.

Top-notch buyers

However, the Palma show is making its greatest efforts for this exhibition to become ever more consolidated in the area of Superyachts in particular and aims to succeed in becoming one of the principal centres for yachts of longer length in the Mediterranean.

As a novelty at the Palma Boat Show this year, the exhibition of large yachts is an operation that is bound to attract high-quality buyers. To this end, via major international brokers, there will be an exhibition of exclusive models with the objective of making the Port of Palma a base for these yachts, thanks to the presence of potential buyers and captains of longer-length boats.

Remodelling of the site for 2011

The Palma International Boat Show is in the middle of a remodelling phase, enabling the gradual improvement of its facilities. Furthermore, the event management is reorganising a plan that will make an outstanding new site possible and ready for 2011. The show setting will have changes in its infrastructures that will affect both the land area as well as the sea part of the site.

Another of the objectives on which work is being carried out is getting the 1st Monographic Superyacht Show up and running, which will host a display of these great craft under the name of 'Palma Yacht Show'. The organisation of this event lies with Fires i Congressos de Balears, the organising body of the Palma International Boat Show, along with the Balearic Port Authority, Mallorca Chamber of Commerce and the Informa Yacht Club, organiser of the Superyacht shows in Monaco and Abu Dhabi. The Palma Yacht Show will form part of a world circuit for yachts measuring more than 35m in length.
