The Boat Show is promoted abroad

Spring gets under way with another Palma Boat Show, where the latest new features in the sector will be presented with a wide range of offers, improvements and varied activities.

The Palma Boat Show will celebrate its 25th anniversary from 26 April to 4 May 2008 at the Moll Vell trade fair site and, after the success of this year's show, the organisers predict good prospects for next year's.

The floating exhibition is beginning its promotion campaign at the Southampton Boat Show, where important contracts have made important contacts with big British boatyards, among other companies in the sector. Promotion will continue at the Genoa Boat Show, which will take place between 6 and 14 October; the Barcelona show in November, and the Dusseldorf one in January.

Fires de Balears, the organiser of the event, wants to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Palma Boat Show with a series of improvements, modifications and activities.

It is forecast to alter the plan of the site, with a new position for the main marquee to take best possible advantage of the open-air exhibition, which will mean a considerable improvement in the services provided, both to exhibitors and to visitors, as well as in the functionality of the area. In the marine area, space will be optimised in order to achieve an increase of a few moorings.

The schedule of activities offered by the Palma Boat Show for its 25th anniversary includes a series of conferences and interactive programmes to bring the sea and boating as a sport closer to the general public. It is also intended to establish the Palma Boat Show 25th Anniversary Trophy, which will be awarded for various races in the local calendar.

Last years event closed with a record number of visitors, and around 52,000 people visited the Moll Vell site, about 5,000 more than in 2006, a figure described by the organisers as "extraordinary".
